Community Workshops
Dr. Jacobs is happy to speak to community groups on a variety of topics relating to parenting, children, mediation, psychology or family law. Groups can be comprised of parents, professionals and any other interested parties.
The following is a list of some of the workshops Dr. Jacobs presents:
- Celebrate, Don't Medicate.
Moving from a model where we pathologise and medicate children who are different to one where we celebrate diversity and advocate lovingly for our unique children. - a) Positive Discipline.
Parents have enormous power to impact their children's behaviour. This workshop explores specific ways to tap into that power. Can target specific areas such as sleeping, eating, chores, etc.
b) Understanding Children's Behaviour.
Learn to understand why your children behave the way that they do, and learn strategies for responding in positive, loving and effective ways - Helping with Your Child's Education.
Learn specific ways to enhance your child's love of learning and educational achievement without any struggles! - Dealing with Adolescence.
This does not have to be the nightmare many parents fear! Learning to replace fear and control with trust and love can make this a very special and wonderful developmental stage for parents and their emerging young people. - Why Mediation.
Explaining why mediation is preferable to litigation. Learn how to save huge amounts of money, time and emotional upheaval while moving positively towards the future - Advisory Mediation.
The Parenting Centre's unique model for developing parenting plans using the guidance and expertise of an experienced child psychologist
